Thoughts from The Wood - November: Tree Health Pilot Extension28/11/2024

Tree Health Pilot Extension

Having worked extensively with the Forestry Commission and the Tree Health Pilot team over the past year, we are excited and relieved so see that the scheme has been extended. The scheme offers vital support to manage, mitigate and contain a number of pests and diseases such as the Spruce Bark Beetle (Ips typographis ) , Ash Dieback and Oak Processionary Moth.

Not only have these scheme been extended in its timeframe, but also in its rage of support offered. Of particular interest for owners of Spruce trees will be the increase in payment rates for permanent infrastructure and also the additional of a specific rake and burn payment in future successful grants.

There are new options to support surveying of ash trees and tree condition surveys to assess ash tree health. A new hourly rate for expert facilitators such as land and forestry agents, and also an increase in the rates paid for oak processionary moth management options.

If you have any questions about managing your spruce, ash, chestnut or oak trees please do get in touch. We would be happy to guide you through the process to ensure maximum funding support for the vital work involved in managing these pests.
