Grown in Britain: Joe Court Forestry now an Expert Provider
Sometimes it’s nice to get out of the office and spend the day with like-minded, and often far more knowledgeable people from across the forestry industry. We were lucky enough recently to be invited to join the other Expert Providers at a joint get together of the Forest Canopy Foundation and Grown in Britain.
The Forest Canopy Foundation (FCF) is a partnership of professional woodland managers from across the industry. The foundation was formed by the industry in response to the climate and biodiversity crisis to focus on the need to increase the scale of woodland creation in the UK and also increase the percentage of woodlands in active management. The group is made up of directors from private sector forestry companies who work together to deliver to maximise their impact.
In order to ensure clarity and accountability, FCF are working with Grown in Britain (GiB) to ensure reliability and accuracy. Through this oversite, Grown in Britain has undertaken the Expert Provider Scheme, giving customers peace of mind that only accredited and audited partners are undertaking the work with the FCF.
We have been fortunate enough this year to become Expert Providers and are looking forward to working with FCF to deliver exemplary woodland creation and forest management scheme throughout the south east. By working in collaboration with GiB we will also be able to offer woodland accreditation for our customers and look to obtain product accreditation for the fuel and other timber products we produce.
It’s an exciting, if challenging time to be part of the forestry sector. But spending time at events like this is really inspirational. As an advert used to say……it’s good to talk. (yes I’m showing my age).
